Dear Hannah Hahn,
I am an owner-resident in Los Verdes Park II, and thus have received notice of the meeting on April 1
to discuss the General Plan Amendment, annexation, and rezoning in connection with this proposed
project. While I understand the need, and support the construction of, additional affordable housing
in San Luis Obispo, I am concerned about the scale of this proposed project and the potential
significant impact on traffic and access to our neighborhood. Specifically, the request to re-zone as
R-4 to allow an increase in planned units from 50 units to over 400 units is quite alarming. Any
potential decision needs to be supported by an accurate and realistic (not aspirational "if people
someday have fewer cars", but real-life statistics) assessment of traffic impacts, based on daily use
during all hours, peak and off-peak. I think this begins with an analysis of current actual traffic, using
car counters at peak hours. Exiting our complex at peak hours is already difficult and hazardous, as
many drivers on Los Osos Valley Road currently ignore the "keep clear" street directions that are
intended to assist with egress. As the project is currently described, I am not in support of it, and
encourage the council to defer approval of the request to re-zone these parcels until these studies
have been completed, analyzed, and shared with the affected parties. I understand that no decisions
will be made on April 1 and request that the council direct staff to focus on these valid concerns.
