Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. 25 March 2025 Honorable City Concil Members, In anticipation of the City Council meeting 1 April I am writing to you. How much we all enjoy living the SLO life, with our views of the hills, and the clean air redolent with the aromas of the seasons here. We at Los Verdes Park II get some air traffic noise and 101 humming in the background when outside our homes, but not with adverse effects. Mr. Wade will likely develop his property to the west of Park and I and II whether the area is rezoned to City domain or not, as is his right. His plan addresses the State mandate to increase “affordable housing”, a very relative term at best. His plan and his numbers make the project a seeming win-win for all…But is it? Mr. Wade promises us a traffic light at the corner of his proposed extension of Buckley Rd to LOVR. There are currently 5 traffic lights from Calle Joaquin to LOVR and S Higuera. I have been in traffic backed up to Calle Joaquin and LOVR from S. Higuera. How beneficial would it be to put a 6th light AND increased traffic numbers into that mix? How beneficial to the riparian environment of the flood plain that is Mr. Wade’s property, to construct 450 or more living spaces on that plain? Once the plain is filled in, exactly how tall will a 3 story condo be? How will the steelhead be protected? Will the tax revenue be sufficient to repair the existing infrastructure? How about to provide sufficient schools and public services for the new residents? One property to the North of LOVR and West will be a 55+ community. It is a reality that grandchildren are living with their grand parents more frequently, and adult children with their parents. However will the neighborhood survive an influx of poentially 600 cars? And possibly more that come from Buckley NW on the proposed connector road to the retail and gas services on LOVR? 1 I ask the Council to carefully consider Mr. Wade’s request. There are existing taxpayers, voters, who will be impacted by your decision. There are children who will inherit the effects of your decision. Would you turn our little bit of SLO heaven into an inland Wilmington? Most respectfully Lorraine Goldman 16 Vista Lane SLO 93401 2
