SLO City Council:
It has come to our attention that on April 1, 2025, you will be asked to approve the building of 430 residential units off Los Osos Valley Road.
This would involve rezoning the area from R3 to R4. To allow a greedy developer to place the ultimate number of units in this part of town,
with an already congested traffic situation, is outrageous and unconscionable.
We live in The Meadows development off Higuera, across from the Food 4 Less shopping center, a house we built in 1985. In the last several
years we have seen traffic increase with all the new housing that’s been built close-by. Turning onto Higuera Street, especially during “rush”
hours, has been getting more and more difficult.
A 430 unit development will not only impact residents who live on/near South Higuera in SLO, but will also impact people who travel Los Osos
Valley Road on a daily basis. South Higuera and Los Osos Valley Road will potentially become a nightmare for residents of the area, as well as
commuters trying to shop at Costco, Target and Home Depot.
In addition, it must be considered that this location is in a flood zone. The entrance roadway as planned off South Higuera at Buckley Road
could be totally cut off, potentially creating a dangerous situation for emergency response personnel to evacuate this additional population.
We are writing to ask that you NOT approve the Broadstone Project.
