Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear Mayor and City Council Members, The completion of the Bob Jones Trail (BJT) has been a hard fought battle against difficult forces and has required many compromises - but the dream is close to a reality! Now the City must play a part in making the BJT the best and safest route possible. This is the time for the Council to provide direction to incorporate safe bike/ped infrastructure principles as the design alternatives are being developed for the Broadstone Village project. Currently, it appears that the best and safest routing of the BJT near this project is not under consideration. The Friends of the Bob Jones Trail will be presenting you with a great creekside alternative and I hope you will direct staff to work with them to make the village project and the trail work together seamlessly and SAFELY. Safety means as little exposure to cars and trucks as humanly possible. The white ghost bike on South Higuera, the recent death of a bicyclist and serious injury to his fellow rider, mowed down on South Higuera by a careless driver, are tragic proof that the trail must be located away from vehicles! Please engage with these knowledgeable stakeholders and help our community achieve the total BJT dream for now and future generations. Sincerely, Jackie Parker San Luis Obispo 1
