To Whom it may concern,
My name is Leo Dewinter. My wife and I reside at 35 Los Verdes Drive located in the Los Verdes Park 1 development
along Los Osos valley road.
I would like to address the council on two new developments scheduled to be built in the coming years alongside
Los Verdes park 1 and two.
The first development is for a development of 55 and older adults for 209 studio 1.2 and 3 bedroom apartments.
The second development to follow along Los Verdes park 2 would add and additional 200 apartments to the mix.
This will add at least 400 vehicles but more likely 600 or more vehicles trying to turn on to Los Osos valley road at
any given time.
With all the development going on along Buckley road and other parts of the city, traffic along Los Osos valley road
is already causing big traffic jams making it almost impossible at times to exit either park.
While the developer is attempting to alleviate this problem to some extent by the proposal to build a bypass road
around Los Verdes park 2 and add a stop light on Los Osos valley road, this does not address to serious increase in
traffic on Los Osos valley road.
A quick look at the map, you will see from Higuera to Calle Joaquin ( .5 miles) there will be 5 stop lights that all this
traffic will have to traverse. In addition to all this, you have the off ramp from highway 101 to deal with.
All this traffic will have to make it’s way mainly in the direction of the major shopping centers as well as Higuera
street.
While we understand the desire of the developer to develop the two projects, I would ask the council to review the
scope of the two Broadstone projects and perhaps scale back the total number of apartments to be built on these
two projects or look for alternate solutions.
We truly fail to see how these two developments, as presently proposed ,are in any way going to alleviate an
already serious traffic congestion issue for the city of San Luis Obispo and it’s residents.
Respectfully
Leo and Peggy Dewinter
