I also imagine reading through each email and hearing from the community members at the council meeting may feel overwhelming, so I will do my best to keep this short and sweet. We have all heard the advice, in more words or less, to stay close to people who feel like the sun. I hope each of you has, or will have, the opportunity to step inside this transformative space, that I fear will soon be nonexistent if action is not taken. For if you do you’re likely to meet the owner, Noelle DuBois, and let me tell you, you’re in for a treat. Noelle has set the example for BTD to surround each customer with laughter and support, and you would be no different. You would walk in to someone smiling right back at you ready to serve you, to listen to you, to support you, and to accept you. BTDs love spreads so much farther than the confines of the brewery, it even spreads farther than the confines of San Luis Obispo. I live in San Diego and there have been numerous times that someone I am speaking with has found their way off the beaten path to a sanctuary called Bang the Drum. Each of them highlights how unique the space is and how welcomed they felt. BTD is much more than just a business, they have created a beautifully supportive community, which I’m sure you have now seen. BTD thrives and builds off connection, acceptance, and love. After all, what the world needs now is love. It would be a tragedy for San Luis Obispo to lose such a strong pillar in the community. You are each in a unique position to help ensure this is not the end of BTDs story, rather it’s just a semicolon in their continued calling to bring people together through good food, good beer, good music and even more amazing people. Therefore, I ask that you allow BTD time to find a suitable solution so that they may, once again, shine the sun your way. Thank you for your time, Amanda Sanchez 1
