Public Art – 2025 Box Art Program
Call for Artists
for the 15th Anniversary of the City's Box Art
Program is now open through May 16
20 utility boxes will receive new artwork
(2 new boxes and 18 replacement boxes)

Fire Hazard Severity Zones
•Cal Fire released updated Fire Hazard
Severity Zone Maps
•The City will review Cal Fire’s map and
create a local version for adoption on July 1
•The City cannot downgrade the severity
zones (only upgrade)
•Community members can review and
comment at www.slocity.org/prepare

•March 10: building deemed unsafe – property
owner provided with Notice and Order to Vacate
•Life-safety issues due to unfinished building
work, which has degraded
•Ordered units to vacate by April 9
•City working with property owner for years as
they pursued a mixed-use project
•Past 18 months, urging property owner to
finish unfinished work required for safety
•Next steps:
•Property owner must finish work
•Property owner will be fined if order to
vacate not followed
•City is prepared to assist tenants and
property owner
