Dear Mayor Stewart and Council,
Please program funds in your new budget for the City to create a rental registry and implement added
protections for the 60+% of households in SLO that are renters.
Additionally, please consider implementing protections for renters against secondhand smoke.
Secondhand smoke causes 41,000 American deaths annually, and there are no regulations against in-
unit smoking in multi-unit housing in SLO.
