The following sections present a brief description of the site and project, our scope of seMces, and the findings of our investigation. On September 'lB, 2018, Technicon was present, along with a City of San Luis Obispo Fire Department staff, during the removal of one 10,o00gallon stoddard solvent underground storage tank (UST). Three soil sample$ were cotlected three feet beneath the UST at 14 feet below ground surface (bgs). Two soil samples were collected adjacent to the UST at 12 feet bgs. one soil sample was collected adjacent to a vent pipe atthreefeet bgs. Two soilsamples were collected in a trench at three and a half feet bgs. The soil samples collected during this investigation were collected by use of a backhoe using a direct push method into a clean stainless steel tube. After sampling, the ends of the sample tube were covered with Teflon@ film, capped with plastic end caps, labeled, placed into a plastic bag and sealed. The samples were then placed in an ice chest cooled with synthetic ice for delivery to the analytical laboratory for chemical analysis' TECHNIC ON I I i CORPORATE OFFICE^ 4539 N. GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERTNG r ENVTRONMENTAL ENGTNEERTNG CONSTRUCTION TESTING AND INSPECTIONS September 20,2018 KA Project No.: 01 6- 18479 Mr. Jim Williams Williams Excavation 244 East Princeton Avenue Fresno. California 937 04 RE:Compaction Testing - Trench and Tanks Backlill Williams Excavation - San Luis Obispo I 1 50 Laurel Lane San Luis Obispo, Califorrria Dear Mr. Williams: In accordance with your authorization, we have performed compaction testing at the above-referenced project. The compaction testing was performed by our engineering technician. The results of the compaction tests taken within the trench and tanks backfill met a minimum of 90% of maximum density below 2 feet and 95%;o of maximum density within the top 2 feet. The maximum depth of the trench and tanks backfill tested was 9 feet. The limit of our testing was defined by others. This testing does not preclude the possibilrty that the soil or fill may be loosened by future construction activities. Test results represent the compaction at the locations where the tests were performed. No testing or investigation work was performed below 9 feet. Neither construction observation tro. full time testing was conducted on this portion of the project. The engineering evaluation of the structural integrity of the entire backfill is beyond the scope of this work. Our firm does not guarantee earthwork construction, hor does our work relieve the contractor ofhis responsibility to conform to the approved project plans and specifications. The tables on the following pages present the results of the density tests taken at the project site. The depths cited are measured from rough grade. We trust that this report will satis& your needs. Should you have any questions or if we can be of fuither assistance, please contact our ofFrce at (559) 348-2200.
