Dear current tenant,
We are reaching out to you to provide a courtesy notice about an action that will impact your suite at I 150
Laurel Lane. On March 10,2025, the City of San Luis Obispo issued a Notice of Violation to the property
owner of ll50 Laurel Lane requiring that the building be closed, vacated, and secured within 30 days
because it is unsafe.
Portions of the building have been declared dangerous because of building and fire code violations;
essentially, the building has been left open to exterior elements for an extended time and fire prevention
systems, including firewalls or barriers to prevent the spread of a fire, are compromised. Once the property
owner brings the building into compliance with building and fire codes, commercial tenants will be allowed to
safely operate their businesses and continue to serve the public. However, once the building is closed, it can
only reopen when it is safe to occupy.
We understand that this type of news can be stressful, and we encourage you to contact the property
owner for more information and the City's Economic Development team for connections to helpful
resources. The City's Economic Development team can connect you with legal professionals, commercial
property brokers and property owners, as well as community partners that support small businesses. Please
feel free to contact the city's Economic Development Analyst, McKenzie Taffe, at (805) 748-9882 or
mctaffe@s1ocity.org.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (805) 781-7157 or mloew@slocity.org
