Hello,
In regard to Agenda Item 7a 2025-27, allow us to comment in support of Cultural Vitality, Economic
Resilience, and Fiscal Sustainability of our Downtown area.
We believe it is very important to support our local businesses and to attract even more new vendors.
Retail operations bring dining customers, and vice versa. Retail stores encourage shopping, which not
only brings city tax revenues, but offers many other advantages over online sales. Buildings with
longterm vacancies are a blight on our downtown. Can property owners be offered an incentive for more
attrractive rental rates?
The new parking structure and theater relocation will bring more attention to the arts area west of
Chorro. We encourage continued support of SLO Rep, SLOMA, the History Center, and Children’s
Museum with promotion to visitors and locals alike. We want our city to compare favorably to other
places like Carmel, Santa Barbara, or Ojai, attracting visitors and new residents.
Thank you for the work you do to make SLO so special.
