Dear SLO City Council Members,
I’m writing in support of upcoming Agenda Item 7a regarding the direction of the 2025-2027 Strategic Budget:
Cultural Vitality, Economic Resilience & Fiscal Sustainability.
The issues encompassed under this umbrella are essential for the continued health and appeal of downtown
San Luis Obispo. Currently, too many storefronts are shuttered or struggling due to a multiplicity of factors that
the City needs to continue to address. Businesses need to be supported by the City, as do visitors to the
downtown.
Parking continues to be an expensive and confusing issue for local residents, and something that informs
decisions as to where to go to eat or shop or recreate on the Central Coast. Last week my husband I attended
an event in Paso Robles and what a pleasure and relief it was to be able to park free of change near the venue
where our event was taking place. It gave us a feeling of being welcomed into that downtown.
I also encourage you to continue your support for the Cultural Arts District as I believe it will be a big boon to
drawing people into the downtown and it will give a needed boost to the cultural offerings in San Luis Obispo.
Thank you for the work that you do.
Sincerely,
Marta Peluso
San Luis Obispo, CA
