Letter of Interest I, Todd Peterson, owner of Red Canary Productions formally submit my letter of interest to be considered for the “on-call video and/or photography consulting services” for the City of San Luis Obispo. Red Canary Productions has 19 years of experience producing videos in San Luis Obispo and has the availability and resources to provide on-call video and photographer consulting services. Red Canary is very familiar with planning and production, editing and the of delivery assets involved in video production. Red Canary will adhere to the provisions outlined in the RFQ. Relevant Experience of Key Personnel and the Firm A. Key Personnel Experience: Todd Peterson (owner) Todd has been leading Red Canary Productions since 2003 after graduating from Cal Poly with a degree in Graphic Communication. Todd has become proﬁcient in cinematography, directing, pre-production management, script/story development, editing and motion graphics. Todd has worked with many advertising and marketing agencies on the Central Coast areas for years, produced nearly 100 videos for Cal Poly while working with various departments, campus leaders, including multiple videos featuring Cal Poly president Jeff Armstrong, and distinguished alumni including NASA astronaut Victor Glover. Todd has worked with the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s department to produce successful campaign videos including the 211 Disaster Preparedness campaign which involved working with each of the mayors of San Luis Obispo county. The 211 Disaster Preparedness Campaign went on to win Gold and Best of Show at the Central Coast Addy Awards in 2015. B. Firm Experience: Red Canary Productions has nearly twenty years of experience producing videos on the Central Coast. We have worked with and produced videos featuring the San Luis Obispo sheriff’s department, Cal Poly, Sinsheimer Elementary School, Cuesta College, Sierra Vista Hospital, the Point San Luis Lighthouse Keepers, the History Center of San Luis Obispo County, PG&E and many more. Red Canary has twice won “Best of Show” at the Central Coast Addy Awards. Red Canary also produced the San Luis Obispo walking tours with the History Center of San Luis Obispo County, a series of nearly 50 historical videos. Red Canary also has produced nearly Ninety percent of all the Visitor TV content that is shown on the jumbo screen in the baggage claim area of the San Luis Obispo Airport, as well as the content on the vertical screens placed through the airport. General Firm Information Red Canary Productions is a sole proprietorship owned by Todd Peterson and has been in business since 2003. There is no employees, but independent contractors are used from time to time depending on project needs. The Red Canary ofﬁce is located at: 3485 Sacramento Dr., Suite G San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 3. Fee Structure Red Canary generally works on a project cost basis, but fees are based on hourly rates of $135/ hour for pre-production, editing and motion graphics. Production rates are $260/hour which includes a crew of two: camera operator and director and use of Red Canary camera, sound and lighting equipment. Hair and Make up stylist can be added to productions for $95/hour. Short-form videos that are under sixty seconds and involve under a day of shooting generally cost $3,250-$4,750. Long-form videos from 1-5 minutes that involve one to two days of ﬁlming generally cost $5,500 - $9,500. Aerial Photography/videography: $260/ hour includes drone pilot and director 4.
