Peter n Prepared by: Bridget O.Fraser Public Works Director City Engineer Engineering Assistant SUBJECT: Award of Contract for "Storm Drain Improvement Project, Osos Street - Islay to S.P.R.R., City Plan No. M -21E". CAO RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution Awarding the Contract and Authorizing the Transfer of Funds. DISCUSSION: There has been a history of flooding at the intersections along Osos near Pismo due to an inadequate storm drain. This storm drain project will help to alleviate the problem by diverting a portion of the storm waters into the waterway near Osos and Leff. On January 19, 1988, the City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized the Staff to advertise for bids. Bids were opened on February 17, 1988, the results of which are shown on the attached Bid Summary Sheet. Baker Construction Company of Arroyo Grande, Calif, was the low bidder with a bid of $57,299.00. The Engineer's Estimate for this project was $69,780.00. SIGNIFICANT IMPACT: The estimated costs are as follows: Base Bid: $57,299.00 Contingencies: 5,701.00 Total: $63,000.00 This project is included in the 1987/1989 Capital Improvement Plan on page E -8 of the Financial Plan. This project has been given and EIR clearance by the Planning Department. Status: Categorical Exemption. CONSEQUENCE OF NOT TAKING ACTION: The project may be more expensive to construct at a later date and the flooding will continue. ACTION RECOMMENDED: Adopt Resolution authorizing the transfer of funds and awarding the contract for "Storm Drain Improvement Project, Osos Street - Islay to S.P.R.R., City Plan No. M -21E11. bofl /m2leaward by � / � RESOLUTION NO. (1988 Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO AWARDING A CONTRACT TO BAKER CONSTRUCTION, INC. TRANSFERING FUNDS FROM CAPITAL OUTLAY FUND CRP APPROPRIATION WHEREAS, the City received bids for "Storm Drain Improvement Project - Osos Street /Islay to S.P.R.R., City Plan No. M- 21E ", and WHEREAS, the Engineer's estimate was $69,780.00, and WHEREAS, the low bid was received from Baker Construction Company of Arroyo Grande, California in the amount of $57,299.00,and WHEREAS, there are funds available in the Capital Outlay Fund CRP appropriation for this project, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the following items: 1. Award contract to Baker Construction Company of Arroyo Grande, California. ;2. Direct the City Clerk to prepare the appropriate documents for signature by the successful bidder and the Mayor. 3. Authorize the Mayor to execute the contract documents. 4. Direct the Finance Director to transfer $63,000.00 from Capital Outlay Fund CRP allocation to Account No. 040 -9803- 091 -572.
