We strongly support the Alternative 1 (Road Diet) option on Tank Farm Road. As residents we regularly observe pedestrians and bicyclists using the Tank Farm Road crossing at Poinsettia and the bike lanes traveling to the Marigold Center, or commuting longer distances. Continued safety enhancements to Tank Farm Road to control speeds, provide bike lane buffers, safer pedestrian crossings and improve sight lines at intersections seem wise. The success of similar Road Diet changes on South Street, Laurel Lane and Johnson Avenue proves the benefits. On those streets we feel safer riding our bicycles, we note that traffic speeds are closer to the posted speed limits, and we have yet to see any traffic back ups as a result of the decreased number of lanes. As drivers in the area we are particularly interested in the better sight-lines for making left turns out of our neighborhood that the Road Diet alternative creates. Thank you to the City Council and to the transportation professionals employed by the City for developing the ideas for the significant safety improvements of the Tank Farm Road Alternative 1 plan. Sincerely, Carl Nelson and Denise Larsen 991 Bluebell Way, SLO 1
