HomeMy WebLinkAbout5/6/2025 Item 7c, Baldwin laurie baldwin < To:E-mail Council Website Subject:Road Diet City Council, I am writing to support Alternative 1 (Road Diet) on Tank Farm Road for the 2025 Paving Project. The road diet option provides the safest alternative for pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers on Tank Farm Road. The Traffic Analysis Technical Memorandum the City had prepared emphasises the safety improvements a road diet will bring. The road diet will greatly benefit provide safer crossings, reduced speeds and wider bike lanes. The City has successfully used road diets to improve Johnson Ave, South Street, Laurel Lane. My husband and I have grandchildren who will eventually be walking from their house (Hollyhock) to ours (Rosemary and Poinsettia) several times a week. Although we are grateful for the blinking crosswalk at Poinsettia and Tank Farm, it is not enough. We have been nearly hit by speeding cars many times while crossing there, even while the light has been blinking for several seconds. It is sad that we feel we cannot trust that crossing light to keep the people in our neighborhood safe. We need MORE. A road diet would most definitely help slow traffic down, which is really needed to improve the safety of Tank Farm Rd. Most drivers just seem to ignore the 35 mph sign and speed right through. Please help us to protect the people who use this road; the cyclists, the pedestrians, and especially the children in the neighborhood. Sincerely, Laurie and Larry Baldwin 4565 Poinsettia 1
