Subject:Tank Farm Road improvements
My husband and I recently bought a condo on Felicia Way off Hollyhock. We chose to live in SLO and the
Tank Farm area specifically for its walkability and access to open spaces and parks. The original
improvement plans for Tank Farm (no Diet) was part of what we based our purchasing decision on
because: 1) we hope to see traffic on Tank Farm slowed (especially the downhill West Bound traffic) by
reducing Tank Farm to a single lane of car traffic; and 2) improve the safety of crossing Tank Farm from
Sun Rose to Morning Glory with a second lighted pedestrian crossing to improve access to the fantastic
French Park.
The city stated goals for this project include:
Pursuing strategies to reduce illegal speeding on Sacramento Drive and Tank Farm Road.
Enhance visibility and safety for pedestrians crossing Tank Farm Road
It is unclear to me how the new Alternative "Diet" plan would even begin to address these two goals.
While I, my neighbors, and other drivers will have to learn new traffic patterns on Tank Farm, we will all
soon adapt and our neighborhood will be quieter and safer for all of us, including our kids and grandkids.
The SLO city council and city staff are to be commended for your years of service dedicated to making
SLO a more walkable, bikeable, and accessible community -- why stop now?
Thank you for your consideration
