Subject:2025 paving project, Tank Farm Rd.
I have resided in the Take Farm neighborhood since 1991. I have witnessed the
area’s growth, facilitated by the addition of housing, parks, and greenspace, as
well as the construction of the Marigold Center. I have consistently appreciated
the bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly nature of these neighborhoods.
For the past two decades, I have called Sunrose Lane home. I may be the sole
resident on either side of Tank Farm with direct visual access to the Morning
Glory/Tank Farm intersection. The wait to cross has increased significantly over
the years, with the rapid increase in the number of vehicles and their increased
speed on this stretch of road. This often results in several minutes’ wait time
before having the opportunity to cross. This presents a challenge for all
pedestrians but especially those with small children, strollers, those with limited
mobility/elderly, or those with pets.
Personally, I have been adversely affected by the lack of speed controls on Tank
Farm Road. In 2004, while crossing the road with my two leashed dogs on a
sunny day, a car collided with one of my dogs. The impact tore her leash from my
grasp, causing her to fly 20 feet. Fortunately, the car narrowly missed me and my
other dog. Despite the severity of the accident, the dog survived and endured
medical issues for the remainder of her life, incurring significant financial and
time burdens.
I am grateful for the opportunity to provide input on this project. Throughout my
tenure in these neighborhoods, I have pondered when personal safety would
take precedence over speed on this stretch of road. I am pleased to see that this
concern is finally being addressed. I urge the authorities to implement measures
to reduce the speed limit while increasing pedestrian safety on Tank Farm Road.
Sincerely,
Barbara Frasher
