To the Members of the Parks and Recreation Commission,
I am unable to attend Wednesday's meeting in person but I would like my voice to be heard. As surely
you must know, pickleball grows in popularity in this community weekly. In addition to being a really fun
way to get some exercise, it also creates community. At a time when loneliness is being characterized as
epidemic, please do not underestimate how important this is. Additionally, I'd like to point out that the
majority of daily players are adults who still contribute financially to the tax base of the city but who no
longer have children in the school system. And while we are more than happy to contribute to the cost of
educating the local school children, we also think that an addition to the city sooner rather than later that
benefits us would be really, really nice.
As more and more people take up the sport, the existing courts get more and more crowded. When the
wait times between games gets too long, the benefits start to diminish. Please seriously consider
making the pickleball courts at Righetti part of Phase 1.
Many thanks,
Kellye Grayson
