At our local office we have four staff members serving the entire county. We were formerly known as the ILRC (Independent Living Resource Center) and have a total of five offices serving the counties of San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Santa Barbara, where we are headquartered. Many of you already know us — we’ve been proudly serving the San Luis Obispo community for 25 years. ACC is the only cross-disability, peer-run organization in the area. We serve people of all ages, all disabilities, and all income levels. W e currently have 14 different programs that include services such as Housing Navigation, Client Advocacy, Benefits Counseling and Assistive Technology. As our nonprofit organization approaches its 50-year anniversary, our programs have grown to include collaborations with many organizations. In SLO County we have active relationships with organizations like CenCal, San Luis Obispo Council Of Governments, Transitions-Mental Health Association, SLO County Public and Behavioral Health, Department of Social Services, Central Coast Assistive Technology Center, Tri Counties Regional Center, Department Of Rehabilitation, United Way (211) and many others. Our local office is also involved with commissions and committees such as the Adult Services Policy Council, Commission On Aging , Latino Outreach Council, and the Police Advisory Committee. Access Central Coast was also part of the advisory committee that recently completed the Master Plan for Aging for San Luis Obispo County. We count on the support of federal, state and local agencies to carry out our programs and promote independent living and full access for individuals with disabilities through advocacy, education, and action in our communities. Although Access Central Coast was not recommended for city funding last time around, we hope we can count on the City of San Luis Obispo to help us carry out the mission of serving a vulnerable population.
