I would appear at the May 7 meeting in person to show my support if I did not have a pre-existing conflict. There are numerous reasons why additional pickleball courts are needed in the city of San Luis Obispo as soon as possible. Among them:  Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. and has a strong, inclusive community in SLO.  Existing court space is limited and overcrowded; demand far exceeds availability.  Including the pickleball courts in Phase 1 supports active living, social connection, and intergenerational recreation.  The courts will serve a wide range of players — from youth to seniors — and help meet the City's recreation goals. I am also told that the city of SLO has fewer pickleball courts than all of the much less populated surrounding towns (e.g., Arroyo Grande, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, etc.). If true, that is really inexcusable. Thank you for your service, and thank you for your efforts to rectify this shortage of pickleball courts. Matthew Pavone SLO Resident  o Sent from my iPad 1
