Subject:Prioritization and funding of the Pickleball Courts at Righetti Park
Dear Advisory Board Members,
I am writing to express a strong community need: the expansion of full-time pickleball
courts in our area. While I appreciate the shared space at Meadow Park, the limited hours
and suboptimal playing conditions make it difficult to meet the growing demand. French
Park offers better facilities and full-day access to the upper courts, but the lower courts
remain limited in both availability and usability.
Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the United States and has cultivated a strong,
inclusive, and intergenerational community here in San Luis Obispo. It provides not only
physical exercise but also a vital avenue for social connection. When I moved to this
area, pickleball courts were instrumental in helping me build relationships and integrate
into the community.
Unfortunately, the current court availability cannot keep pace with the demand. To
support the health, wellness, and social fabric of our community, I respectfully request
that the proposed new courts at Righetti Park be prioritized in the upcoming budget.
