Subject:Sidewalk safety hazards
Hello-
I’m not sure if I can make the upcoming city council meeting to speak at public comment so I’m writing. Here in
the Anholm neighborhood there are additional sidewalks desperately in need of repair. I’ve included 3
photos. These sidewalks have been this way for a couple decades. It’s dangerous for our elderly neighbors to
walk these damaged sidewalks. My mom is 85, walks with a cane and has already broken her hip once. Down the
street a neighbor with Parkinson’s uses a walker - it’s just not safe. She’s not the only elderly/disabled person
having to deal with this mishegos. Please know that neighbors in their 70’s and 80’s often can’t go somewhere
else to walk, nor should they have to. Nor should they have to walk in the streets. Lastly, many time people park
their cars over the sidewalks half in the driveway / half in the street. I call SLOPD and ask that they be ticketed and
to many times the officer gives the rude car owner a warning- no ticket. And then they continue to park blocking
the sidewalks. There’s been enough warnings. Please, ticket these thoughtless car drivers.
