Dear City Council Members,
I am a resident of Righetti Ranch. Before moving to San Luis Obispo, I had never heard of this area and
was initially unsure. Thankfully, my wife encouraged us to make the move three years ago — and we’ve
never been happier. We love this city and are truly grateful for all the services and amenities it offers.
However, one lingering disappointment has been the absence of the promised park near our
neighborhood. When we purchased our home, the developer assured us that a community park would
be built soon. As you know, that has yet to happen. Some of our neighbors have been waiting for over six
years. A completed park would provide a safe and welcoming space for families to gather and for our
community to grow.
In addition to being a resident, I’m also the newly elected President of the SLO Pickleball Club. We have
been partnering with the Parks & Recreation Department (Greg and Devin) to offer multiple beginner
pickleball classes each year — all of which fill up quickly and receive glowing feedback. Pickleball is
more than just a sport; it fosters fun, connection, and a strong sense of community.
Unfortunately, with the growing number of players and the limited number of permanent courts, our
facilities are under strain. The demand for accessible, well-maintained courts continues to rise — and
the inclusion of pickleball courts in Phase 1 of Righetti Park would make a huge impact.
As both a resident of Righetti Ranch and President of the SLO Pickleball Club, I strongly encourage the
Council to approve funding for Phase 1 of the Righetti Community Park project — with the inclusion of
the pickleball courts as part of that phase. Your support would be deeply appreciated by our residents
and the broader community.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
Jonathan
President, SLO Pickleball Club
