AmCOUNCIL AGENDA REPORT ITEM M= FROM: Roger Pic uet Citv Attorne Pa Vq LC]erk SUBJECT: Ballot Measures for the June 7, 1988 Election CAO RECOMMENDATION: Adopt two resolutions amending previously worded ballot measures and rescind Resolution No's 6391 and 6393 as recommended. BACKGROUND: The City Council adopted three resolutions calling and consolidating the election of June 7, 1988 for the purpose of placing two mobilehome rent regulation ordinances on the ballot. The County Elections Department has advised the City that the language contained in the question posed for City Measure D is inconsistent with City Measure E and makes titling the ballot measures in the sample ballot difficult. The revised language is consistent with Council 's previously approved resolutions and should make the ballot wording clearer. Current language in Resolution No. 6393 reads: City Measure "Y "Shall the Mobilehome Ad Hoc Committee's YE recommended amendments to the existing Mobilehome Rent Regulations be adopted?" City Measure "E" "Shall the proposed initiative ordinance YES establishing new Mobilehome Rent Regulations be adopted?" Both ordinances establish new regulations rather than amend current legislation. Proposed language reads: City Measure "D" "Shall the Mobilehome Ad Hoc Committee's YES recommended ordinance establishing V Mobilehome Rent Regulations be adopted?" R- I- I
