HomeMy WebLinkAbout5/28/2025 Item 4a & 4b, Jeff Jeff To:Advisory Bodies Cc:E-mail Council Website; Rqn of Slo; Karen Adler; Kathie Walker; Carolyn Subject:Sigma Nu and Delta Chi To the Advisory board I am writing, once again, to express my feelings about noise and deterioration of my neighborhood. I live near Kentucky and Hathway. Ground zero, Hell’s Kitchen. I have lived in San Luis for 46 years, 25 years at my current location. I believe in the rule of law. There are laws on the books that are not followed and I hope in this country, that when not followed, the responsible parties should be held to account. There is so much noise that comes from these two Frat houses, you would not be happy living with your families, if you lived where I do. I promise you that and invite you to come to my home to hear it. I have called the police dozens of times over the last 2 years for noise violations. Particularly on Saturday afternoons where about 500 people regularly gather to party. Live music is so loud, you cannot function normally because it really bothers you psychologically. It has been pointed out to you, very specifically of each of these numerous noise violations. But if each kid chips in 5 bucks, the fine is paid, the fun continues and nothing happens. Not only do I beg you NOT to approve these requests, but also work with the city council to make new laws and amend old laws to make the fraternities and the property owners more responsible for this reckless and thoughtless behavior! I am old,I am tired, I pay taxes, but i am still and human being and my rights as a citizen still need to be honored and respected. My previous protest to the city council was, ‘Don’t turn Alta Vista into Isla Vista’! That didn’t happen! My neighborhood deserves the same respect and treatment as other SLO neighborhoods. This would never be allowed in the Country Club area or all other areas of SLO. My neighborhood is singled out because it is a student neighborhood and frankly i don’t think there is enough Police power to adequately protect it. So why don’t you DO something to start the ball rolling with the fraternity problems. Much more needs to be done, but this could be a beginning. My life depends on it! Please, ‘Do the right thing’! Respectfully, Jeff (last name withheld because i am worried about retribution, since I have had my living room windows and car windows broken due to previous problems with students. If you want or need my last name, please right me back securely and i will give it to you) Sent from my iPad (Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious)! 1
