SUBJECT: Public hearing to consider giving final passage to Ordinance No. 1112, amending membership on the Mass Transportation Committee from nine to seven members (continued 3-1-88) . RECOMMENDATION: Give final passage to Ordinance No. 1112 as recommended. BACKGROUND: On 3-1-88 the City Council voted to introduce this ordinance to print. As proposed, this ordinance would reduce the Mass Transportation Committee (MTC) from nine to seven members. Both the "general public" and "technical" positions would be reduced from two to one member for each category. Staff recommends that this change occur through attrition. RECOMMENDED: Option: Give final passage to Ordinance No. 1112 as recommended. Other Options: The City Council may deny the ordinance or continue action. SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS: There will be some savings in staff time and administrative costs due to the reduction in committee size. CONSEQUENCE OF NOT TAKING THE RECOMMENDED ACTION: The MTC would continue to have nine members.
