Resolution of Appreciation to Candace Havens

By Motion, Adopt Resolution Expressing the City's Gratitude and
Appreciation to Candace Havens for her dedicated Service to the City
and Its Citizens.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
By motion, adopt resolution endorsing Resolution of Appreciation to
Candace Havens.

RESOLUTION OF
APPRECIATION
RESOLUTION NO. (1988 Series)
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN LUIS OBISPO EXPRESSING THE CITY'S GRATITUDE
AND APPRECIATION TO CANDACE HAVENS
FOR HER DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE
CITY AND ITS CITIZENS
WHEREAS, Candace Havens has had a distinguished career with the
City of San Luis Obispo since June 1, 1978; and
WHEREAS, Candace has served in both the Community Development
and Public Works Departments; and
WHEREAS, Candace has served as Planning Technician, Planning
Enforcement Technician, Assistant Planner, Associate Planner, and
Parking Program Coordinator, as well as participating actively and
enthusiastically on various committees; and
WHEREAS, her performance and accomplishments in these positions
have demonstrated her solid abilities; and
WHEREAS, Candace's positive energy, enthusiasm and expertise
have created an atmosphere of trust and respect for the City; and
WHEREAS, Candace, as the first Parking Program Coordinator of
the City of San Luis Obispo, has withstood the ultimate test in
diplomacy and innovation; and
WHEREAS, her perseverance and creativity have contributed to San
Luis Obispo's newest and most architecturally controversial
building, the Palm Street Parking Structure; and
WHEREAS, Candace has contributed to the improvement of the
quantity and quality of parking in San Luis Obispo with the major
accomplishment of developing the Parking Management Plan for the
City of San Luis Obispo; and
WHEREAS, Candace was the City's project manager for the new
City-County Library; and
WHEREAS, no matter how great her accomplishments or how
widespread her fame, Candace always will be best known for sign
enforcement; and
WHEREAS, while her management talents have earned her a new
desk, office with a door, and enough file cabinets, she has chosen
to retire to the 24 hour a day job of taking care of her home and
family;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council wishes to
express its gratitude for her numerous accomplishments and
outstanding performance which she has given to the City of San Luis
Obispo during the past ten years and wish Candace well.
