PUBLIC COMMENT FOR ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA
The public is encouraged to submit comments on any subject within the jurisdiction of the Tree Committee that does not appear
on this agenda.Although the Committee will not take action on items presented during the Public Comment Period,the Chair
may direct staff to place an item on a future agenda for discussion.Comments are limited to 3-minutes,per person.

member of the public may request the Tree Committee to pull an item for discussion.The public may comment on any and all

Luis Obispo Municipal Code Section 12.24.090(F)(4)

Summary of Applicable Criteria 12.24.090.G(1-7)
•G(1) Size of Tree – Fairly small in scale, ranging from 3 to 11 inches in DBH, with limited
to moderate canopy sizes
•G(2) Location – Visible from the public right-of-way (primarily located in north parking lot
and side yard area along Sacramento)
•G(3) Species – Non-native removals
•G(4) Forestry Best Practice – 20 removals include 13 in poor condition, 6 in fair
condition, and 1 has been cut and is a stump; 45 replacement plantings to include young
native and native-adjacent trees to increase biodiversity and tree age distribution
•G(5) Public Right-of-Way Impact – Removals not due to obstruction of vision, access,
mobility of public traffic, or sidewalk infrastructure repair or replacement
•G(6) Compensatory Plantings – Number of replacement trees (2.25:1) exceed the
minimum replacement requirement (1:1)

Tree Committee Actions
Recommend findings of consistency with the Tree Regulations. An action
recommending approval of the application based on consistency with the Tree
Regulations (SLOMC Chapter 12.24) would be forwarded to the Planning
Commission for final action. This action may include recommendations to revise the
proposed landscaping plan.
Continue the project to a hearing date certain, or uncertain. An action
continuing review of the application to another hearing date should include clear
direction to the applicant and staff on pertinent issues based on consistency with
the Tree Regulations.
Recommend findings of inconsistency with the Tree Regulations. An action
recommending denial of the application should include findings that cite the basis
for denial and reference inconsistency with the General Plan, Tree Regulations, or
other policy documents.
