RECOMMENDATION
Cancel the Regular City Council Meeting of Tuesday, July 3, 2012, call a special meeting fo r
November 7, 2012 and reinstate the regular meeting of December 18, 2012 .
DISCUSSIO N
The Council had previously adopted a schedule that provided three council meetings a month .
At the June 5, 2012 meeting, Council introduced an ordinance to revert to two meetings a month ,
the 1 st and 3 rd Tuesday of each month, starting at 6 :00 p .m . This change has affected the meeting
schedule .
July 3 would be a regularly scheduled meeting date and due to the holiday, and it is recommende d
that the Council cancel the July 3rd regular meeting . The Council will still have a regular meetin g
on Tuesday, July 10 and Tuesday, July 17 (3rd Tuesday) as the new schedule calling for tw o
meetings a month will not take effect until July 12th .
At the March 20, 2012 meeting, Council cancelled the regular meetings of August 14th and 21st ,
leaving the first meeting of August 7, 2012 as the only meeting in August . No changes are
proposed to the August schedule .
The November 6th regular meeting has been cancelled due to the general municipal electio n
scheduled for that day . The next regular November meeting will be on the 20th . Staff suggests
scheduling a special meeting on November 7, 2012 to replace the November 6th meeting .
Also on March 20, 2012, the December 18th regular meeting was cancelled . Staff is recommending
that the Council reinstate this meeting due to the anticipated workload .

There is no fiscal impact associated with cancelling the July 3, 2012 Council meeting or reinstating th e
December 18, 2012 meeting .

Council could choose different meeting dates to add or cancel or could choose not to add or cance l
any meetings .
