1. CALL TO ORDER
A Regular Meeting of the Council Compensation Committee was called to order
on September 4, 2025 at 5:32 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room at City Hall, 990
Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, by Deputy City Manager Hermann.
1.1 OATH OF OFFICE
City Clerk Teresa Purrington administered the Oath of Office to the
Committee.

3. BUSINESS ITEMS
3.1 ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR
Member LeMieux nominated Member Howell for Chair; consensus vote
was unanimous.
Member Pease nominated Member LeMieux as Vice Chair; consensus
vote was unanimous.

3.2 OVERVIEW OF THE BROWN ACT, CITY 101 AND CITY BUDGET
Deputy City Greg Hermann provided a brief presentation and responded
to Committee inquiries.

3.3 PURVIEW OF THE COMMITTEE AND HISTORY OF COMPENSATION

to Committee inquiries.

3.4 ACTION PLAN AND TOPICS FOR FUTURE DISCUSSION

The Committee requested staff to bring the following discussion items for
review:
• Draft language for Council Member survey, for submittal to active
members and previous members up to 6 years ago
• Draft language for Advisory Body member survey, for submittal to
active members and previous members up to 4 years ago
• Benchmark city compensation information and their methodologies
for determining compensation
• Draft language for Open City Hall survey for members of the public

Price, Member Tseng, Vice Chair LeMieux, and Chair Howell

4. COMMENT AND DISCUSSION
4.1 STAFF UPDATE
By consensus, the Committee agreed to the following Meeting schedule,
with additional meetings to be scheduled as needed.
Regular Meeting Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 5:30 pm
Regular Meeting Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 5:30 pm
Regular Meeting Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 5:30 pm
Regular Meeting Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 5:30 pm
5. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 7:46 p.m. The next Regular Meeting of the
Council Compensation Committee is scheduled for September 30, 2025 at 5:30
p.m. in the Council Hearing Room at City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis
Obispo.
