State regulation requires that any facility containing an undergroundstorage tank (UST) system must belnspected liy the local agency that implements the state regulations. As you are aware, the fire Departmentis the local implementing agency in San Luis Obispo. According to our records, your UST system is due for inspection. Your facility is scheduled to be inspected by this department within the next two weeks. The purpose of the inspection is to determine whether or not the-UST system is in compliance with all applicable regulations. Compliance includes, but is not limited to, design al{ construction standards, verification that the operator has monitored and tested the UST system as required by the permit, and determination of whether the UST system is operating in a safe condition. Dear Dale Consistent with the California'Underground Storage Tank Regulations, I inspected the underground storage tank systems at the above referenced addresses. The following is a list of items that were discussed during the inspections that need to be addressed as soon as possible. 2015 Broad Street Please contact Tosco Marketing Company in order to obtain current documentation of Financial Responsibility for the ownership and operation of underground storage tanks pursuant to 40 CFR part280. This documentation is to kept at both sites. 2. Please keep a key to the dispensers, or provide some other means of accessing the internal parts of each dispenser on site, in case an emergency should occur. 3. This site meets the regulatory requirements that will go into effect on Decemb er 22,1998 with the possible exception of one. We have yet to determine if your underground storage tanks have striker plates. If they do not, striker plates or fill tube-mounted bottom protectors must be installed. 4 During the inspection, no violations were noted, all items are in order at this site 1308 Monterey Street 1. Our records indicate that the underground piping at this site is single wall fiberglass. Since the tanks are double wall, corrosion protected, and were installed before 7l|l87 , there are no additional requirements for this UST system. This site meets the regulatory requirements that will go into effect on December 22, 1998.
