1. CALL TO ORDER
A Regular Meeting of the Council Compensation Committee was called to order
on September 30, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room at City Hall,
990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, by Chair Howell.

3. CONSENT
3.1 CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES - SEPTEMBER 4, 2025 COUNCIL
COMPENSATION COMMITTEE MINUTES
Motion By Vice Chair LeMieux
Second By Member Pease
To approve the Council Compensation Committee Minutes of September
4, 2025.
Ayes (7): Member Foote, Member Johnson, Member Pease, Member
Price, Member Tseng, Vice Chair LeMieux, and Chair Howell
CARRIED (7 to 0)

4. BUSINESS ITEMS
4.1 REVIEW AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON DRAFT LANGUAGE FOR
COUNCIL MEMBER COMPENSATION SURVEY, ADVISORY BODY
MEMBER COMPENSATION SURVEY, AND OPEN CITY HALL SURVEY
City Clerk Teresa Purrington provided a brief presentation and responded
to Committee Inquiries.

By consensus, the Committee recommended various changes to be
implemented to the Council Compensation Survey, Advisory Body
Compensation Survey, and the Open Hall City Survey prior to distribution
on October 6, 2025.
4.2 UPDATED COMPENSATION AMOUNTS FOR COMPARISON CITIES
AND COMPENSATION METHODOLOGIES
City Clerk Teresa Purrington provided a brief presentation and responded
to Committee Inquiries.

By consensus, the Committee requested staff to continue to use the list of
benchmark cities previously used by the 2020 Council Compensation
Committee when comparing compensation and methodologies.
5. COMMENT AND DISCUSSION
5.1 STAFF UPDATE
City Clerk Teresa Purrington provided staff with potential items that could
be brought before the Committee at the next Regular Meeting.
The Committee requested the following to be brought back for discussion
at the next Regular meeting:
• information on the number of City advisory body meetings
• information regarding the Council's "Amount Reimbursed for City
Business"

6. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m. The next Regular Meeting of the
Council Compensation Committee is scheduled for October 22, 2025 at 5:30
p.m. in the Council Hearing Room at City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis
Obispo.
