I will be there on behalf of the SLO Chamber to share our board's position on Item 5a, which includes:  understanding that there is a need for data-informed decisions, we are supportive of the City creating a private database of rental units through something like a rental registry, as long as it doesn't increase City costs and housing red tape,  supporting policies that ensure the quality of housing needed to attract a talented local workforce,  warning against rules beyond California's Tenants Protection Act to avoid creating more challenges for building housing in SLO, and,  increasing legal education for both tenants and landlords. Thank you for your hard work on this, and I look forward to the discussion on this item tomorrow. Sincerely, Rachel Whalen she/her/hers Governmental Affairs Coordinator 805.786.2763 rachel@slochamber.org 895 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 1
