To the Members of the San Luis Obispo City Council:
We are writing to express our strong support for the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art and its planned
expansion into two adjacent buildings on Higuera Street, in the heart of our beautiful downtown.
The new museum will be a cultural landmark and it will expand the art experience of the people who live
here, our students, and our visitors. It will also contribute to our local economy, as people who visit
SLOMA are likely to spend at nearby restaurants, shops and hotels, supporting local businesses and
helping sustain a vibrant downtown.
The planned expansion will double the museum’s art education resources, offering even more
opportunities for children, families and lifelong learners to engage creatively. Beyond its economic and
educational value, the museum will continue to serve as a place of cultural insight, community
connection, and inspiration - a gathering place that enriches life in San Luis Obispo for residents and
visitors alike.
We urge the City Council to support this important project and recognize the lasting benefits it will bring
to our city’s cultural and economic vitality.
We very much appreciate the time and commitment you devote to our community, and we believe the
Art Museum expansion is worthy of your consideration and support.
