Remarks:
A first alarm was dispatched for a fire in the electrical room at Sierra Vista Hospital. Upon our arrival, T1 and Engine 4 and BC4
were directed to the C/D side of the building where the electrical room was. Staff stated that they saw smoke coming from the
electrical room and when they opened the doors, flames were coming from an electrical panel. Staff pulled the fire alarm (which
happened to be on test mode) so he grabbed an extinguisher and used it on the panel. Staff then called 911 to report the fire.
Truck 1 made access to the electrical room where the panel was still arching and burning. T1 protected the scene while staff and
electricians attempted to shut power off to the panel. Engine 4 was then released by BC4. Staff opened their EOC due to having to
power up generators and prepare the hospital for turning off power. The electricians on scene were unable to turn the main
breaker off. Hospital staff asked Truck 1 to call PG&E to respond to shut down power to the main breaker. BC4 dispatched Truck 2
to the scene to relieve T1. PG&E arrived on scene and T1 passed on the information to PG&E and T2. The scene was turned over to
T2 and cleared.

Truck 1 made access to the electrical room where the panel was still arching and burning. T1 protected the scene while staff and

to the scene to relieve T1. PG&E arrived on scene and T1 passed on the information to PG&E and T2. The scene was turned over to
T2 and cleared.
Additional Narrative (#1 of 1):
BC4 arrived first at the scene and established Sierra IC. BC4 assigned Training 1 to get a 360. BC4 advised by staff that the
fire was on the Charlie side (Casa St side). T1 first in, assigned to investigate, all units switched to city tac. T1 advised knock down
the fire; however, the panel was still charged, glowing red, and arcing inside. BC4 kept E4 and T1 at scene and released the balance.
Units remained at scene while staff attempted to shut down the breaker. With the breaker not able to be turned off, likely due to
lack of exercising (per staff) PGE requested to kill power to the main.
SVH EOC and the emergency manager noted that PGE would not respond if SLOFD was not at the scene. T2, BC4, and Chief
Gutierrez remained at the scene until released by PGE.
SVH EOC remained active.
