Local jurisdictions will now be required to provide findings in support of adoption of appendices not adopted by a state agency. This was not a requirement of previous code adoption cycles, but likely has been created in response to the newly adopted amendments to the Health and Safety Code and the prohibition on new amendments that impact residential unit construction contained in AB 130. The Code Matrix tool (Attachment D to the Council Agenda Report) has been updated to include appendices that the City adopts for the Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire standards . The Matrix tool also provides the findings in support of their adoption in compliance with the new direction from the California Building Standards Commission. The updated Attachment D is provided with this Agenda Correspondence and supersedes the attachment in the original Council Agenda Report.
