Remarks:
1st alarm responded to a report of a structure fire. Enroute dispatch advised there was fire in the basement. On arrival T-2
established command and began a 360. BC-2 arrived and assumed command. The occupant told FF-2 the fire was in the rear. T-2
noted a small amount of fire, flames approach 2' tall, coming out of the floor in the basement just inside the stairs on the
Charlie/Bravo corner. FF-2 extinguished the fire. T-2 and FF-2 made access into the basement and confirmed no extension. FF-2
unplugged a single cord leading to the fire location and two additional cord from a different outlet running to the washer and drier.
T-1 set up ventilation of the basement. T-2 noted a tripped breaker in the basement sub panel. T-2 obtained photos and interviewed
the RP. The RP reported the following:
1800 arrived home, nothing unusual noted.
1820 smelled smoke, described the odor similar to burning rubber
1828 saw smoke coming from the kitchen floor vent and went outside. The RP reported seeing flames and smoke in the basement.
Flames approx. 2' tall.
1829 called 911, reported the fire and was instructed to wait outside. Until making contact with FF-2.
T-2 determined the fire was in a sump and was caused by a pump malfunction. T-2 worked with BC-2, P-20, property owner by phone
and RP to determine it was safe to restore power at the main panel. T-2 left the breaker tripped and confirmed the involved outlet
was not live after restoring the power. BC-2 requested the gas company to r...
