HomeMy WebLinkAbout6_11_2025 Item 3b, GreenChris Green < To:Advisory Bodies Subject:PC Communication: Please consider removing item 3bfrom the consent calendar from the June 11th Planning Commission Meeting Good evening Commissioners, My name isChris Green, the President with the Delta Chi Fraternity for the upcoming school year. Thank you for your service to our city. Please consider removing item 3b from the consent calendar to discuss the Draft Resolution to revoke the Conditional Use Permit for use of 1236 Monte Vista Place as a fraternity. After the extensive conversation last week about the real concerns raised by the community and discussions of how best tofind asolution moving forward, we would like towork collaboratively on how we can work to address those concerns and to outline our Fraternity'scommitment to the community. Our fraternity chapter wants to do right by the community and continue to have a registered framework and agreement with the city. We feel that our Delta Chi chapter can be a good example of what a Fraternity can be as aneighbor. Revoking our permit and requiring us to reapply over modifying the existing permit will cost our organization up to $11,000 dollars, which would need to be covered by our members, many of which have summer jobs and jobs while in school to cover rent and tuition. Instead of revoking the permit, we would like to find a way to develop the Conditional Use Permit framework in a manner that gives the commissioners comfort in approving the findings. The resolution language was not before the commission last week during the discussion, and because of the significant discussion last week on the decision at hand, an opportunity for the discussion of the resolution language would ensure itfully encompasses the prior discussion. Thank you for your time and consideration ofthis request. Ihope to express to you our fraternity chapter'sgoal to become the model neighbor for our community members through the regulated conditional use process through the city and would appreciate the opportunity for a discussion with the city on how we can move forward to remain within the fold of being a good partner with the community.
