Dear Mayor and City Council,
I am writing to advocate for Additive Alternate #3 (Pump Track & Skills Course) as part of the Righetti
Community Park Project (Item 5f).
My daughter has participated in the Little Bellas mountain biking program for three years. I see firsthand
how these facilities provide a vital positive outlet for our youth and would love to see more of these
facilities in other parts of the community.
As noted in the Staff Report, the Pump Track is most cost-effective if built now, preventing future
mobilization costs and escalation. However, I also strongly support the Higuera Complete Streets
project and understand the concern regarding the Capital Projects Reserve.
Regarding the funding concern: The report identifies an estimated $4.1 million in Unassigned Fund
Balance that can be reviewed in February. I encourage the Council to utilize that balance to fully fund the
Higuera Complete Streets project during the Mid-Year Review, rather than deferring the Pump Track now.
We can, and should, support both safe streets and youth recreation.
