Subject:Pump Track
Dear City Council,
Coach Miles here from the SLO Scoters, San Luis Obispo’s local HS/MS mountain bike race team.
I am writing today to express my concern that the bike pump tack and skills track included in Bid
Alternate Three is not being awarded as part of the Righetti Park contract. I know that the city and its
residents have many desires for what is included in this park, and that they are faced with the reality of
budget constraints. I ask that the city strongly re-consider the inclusion of Alternate 3 in the contract as a
skills facility of this nature is an offering currently missing from our city parks, while the other proposed
facilities exist at several other city parks.
At a minimum, I ask that the city make a commitment to ensuring that any supplemental funds in the city
budget next year be allocated to ensuring the bridge is installed to provide access across the creek as
part of this project to ensure that the bike park can be constructed if funding becomes available in the
future, or through a community effort.
This type of facility would provide such a benefit to a bike minded community and a growing area of town
where many families are buying homes.
Thank you for your consideration.
Grace and peace,
Coach Miles Nelson
