Subject:Bike park please
Dear City Council,
I am writing today to express my concern that the bike pump tack and skills track included in Bid Alternate 3 is not being awarded as
part of the Righetti Park contract. I ask that the city strongly reconsider the inclusion of Alternate 3 in the contract as a skills facility of
this nature is an offering currently missing from our city parks, while the other proposed facilities exist at several other city parks.
At a minimum, I ask that they city make a commitment to ensuring that any pplemental funds in the city budget next year be allocated to
ensuring the bridge is installed to provide access across the creek as part of this project to ensure that the bike park can be constructed
if funding becomes available in the future, or through a community effort.
We need more ways to get kids on bikes so that they develop into life-long cyclists. This not only promotes health, skills development,
but will also promote a realistic alternative to the growing traffic congestion in our community in the long run. Kids that grow up on bikes
turn into adults that want to keep riding for fitness and love to commute on a bike.
