Dear City Council,
My name is Bradley Wiggs, and I’ve lived in San Luis Obispo for years as part of the local cycling and
outdoor community. I help run creative and media projects in the bike world with Central Coast-based
companies Voler and Stilspoke, and I’ve seen firsthand how much energy and potential exists among
young riders and families here. I’m writing to express my strong support for including Bid Alternate 3 —
the bike park and pump track — in the Righetti Park contract.
SLO is already a bike-friendly community, and this project would strengthen that identity in a meaningful
way. A skills park like this becomes the spark for so many people; kids discovering the sport, teens
looking for a positive outlet, families wanting a simple, healthy activity they can do together. These
spaces build community. They keep cycling accessible. They give young riders a place to grow without
needing to travel or navigate more advanced terrain. And they are absolutely essential to fostering the
wonderful, bike-friendly culture that SLO has built.
I understand the reality of budget constraints, but the long-term value of this facility is significant. At a
minimum, I urge the city to include the bridge across the creek so the bike park remains feasible as
future funding becomes available.
Thank you for considering the impact this project could have on our community and the riders growing up
here.
Sincerely,
Bradley Wiggs
