City Council,
I am writing today to express my concern that the bike pump tack and skills track included in Bid Alternate 3 is not being awarded as
part of the Righetti Park contract. I know that the city and its residents have many desires for what is included in this park, and that they
are faced with the reality of budget constraints. I ask that the city strongly re-consider the inclusion of Alternate 3 in the contract as a
skills facility of this nature is an offering currently missing from our city parks, while the other proposed facilities exist at several other
city parks.
At a minimum, I ask that they city make a commitment to ensuring that any supplemental funds in the city budget next year be allocated
to ensuring the bridge is installed to provide access across the creek as part of this project to ensure that the bike park can be
constructed if funding becomes available in the future, or through a community effort.
There is nowhere in this whole area that has a pump track for bikes, except Paso. They’re also is not any bike parks that are
constructed with good quality compared to other towns in California. my kids did BMX racing and we loved the bike track in Santa Maria
at the rodeo, but unfortunately they removed everything to do with kids. My kids miss riding at tracks or at least having a pump track to
use.
