Subject:SLO pump track
Hello Council Members,
My name is Jacob Gaye, and I am a high school student at Arroyo Grande High School. I have been a member
of the San Luis Obispo Scoters Mountain Bike Team for the last few years, and I really enjoy riding with
teammates and friends in our amazing local community.
I first want to share how grateful I am for the new trails on Righetti Hill. They’ve been a great addition to the
area, and I’ve had a lot of fun using them. So many people in the community have already been enjoying them
too. I’ve noticed hikers, riders, runners constantly using the trails. One of our friends even pulled off a pretty
ridiculous 100-mile ride only on those trails, to show how much these trails are being used and appreciated. I
helped work on this project even, putting in some volunteer hours just to show how much it means to me.
It has come to my attention that an important decision about the Righetti Hill park project, especially the bike
park and pump track area, is coming up at the next Council meeting. I want to express my full support for the
construction of this pump track. Many young riders and families in our community would benefit from having a
safe place to develop bike skills, and it would be extremely helpful to have a facility like this close to home
rather than driving to the Paso Robles facilities.
Programs such as Little Bellas and local youth cycling groups would use this space often, and it would provide
a positive outlet for kids who love riding. On behalf of myself and many younger riders who may not be able to
write in, I hope you will support moving this project forward.
Thank you for your time and for all the work you do for our community.
Sincerely, Jacob Gaye
