Subject:Sewer Lateral Program Update (Item 6b)
Hello,
I am writing in support of the proposed amendments to the sewer lateral offset map, the expansion of the
rebate amount for lateral replacements and the proposed rebate for sewer inspections. However, I do
want to emphasize that in general, this program is going to continue to create undue burden on small
infill development. Because infill development serves most of the major cities goals it could be said that
the lateral replacement program is in conflict with these goal, specially in light of the fact that the legal
mandate for the program is expired and capital improvement projects seem to have a much greater
affect on the problem of infiltration. I would ask the council continue to work staff to reduce barriers to
building the housing that our community needs.
