RECOMMENDATION
Consider taking a position regarding Assembly Bill 1648, which would amend the Political Reform
Act of 1974 concerning advertisement disclosures .
DISCUSSION
At the City Council meeting of May 1, 2012 the City Council directed via consensus that this matte r
be placed on the May 8, 2012 agenda . Staff will review the City's legislative platform to determin e
if this bill is covered by any of the provisions and provide background information regarding A B
1648 under separate cover .
FISCAL IMPAC T
If the City Council decides to take a position on AB 1648 staff will communicate this position to
our Assemblyman and Senator . That work effort can be accomplished within existing resources an d
therefore there will be no fiscal impacts .
