Commission Duperron (attended Mission Plaza and Jack House property). Commissioner Murphy (Absent) City Staff: Director Avakian, Manager Hyfield, Manager Tolley, Public Works Deputy Director Cruce, Parks Superintendent Harvey, and Parks Supervisor Niles. Summary: Staff provided historic background on each park site and facility, including timelines of key amenities (e.g., inclusion of the skate park and roller rinks, meadow center building, Jack House property oversight and operations), outlined the variety of amenities and why they are included at each unique park, and example activities which occur at each park based on the unique amenities and demographics of users, including the various community and City special events. Parks maintenance shared the recent park improvements, as well as challenges of maintaining each unique park and facility, including the staffing models for daily and weekly operations. PRC comments ranged from impressed with the amount of variety for all ages and interest levels, as well as the potential for expanded uses at the parks to be assessed for future discussions. The PRC will be discussing the Park Tours activity in detail as a formal agenda item at the January 7, 2026 Parks and Recreation Meeting. Location #1: Santa Rosa Park (1050 Oak Street) - Barbecue/Seating Areas (2 Large areas) - Baseball Field (youth) - Horseshoe Pits (Large) - Hockey/Roller Rink - lights - Playground - Restrooms - Skate Park - lights - Softball Field – lights - Walking Paths Example Activations: hockey (youth/adult), basketball, skate/scooters, horseshoe tournaments, small & large gatherings (work, family, clubs), softball & baseball, recreational activities and classes, art in the park, festivals. Location #2: Meadow Park (2333 Meadow Street) - 16 acres - Barbecue/Seating Area - Community Garden - Community Room/Facility - Horseshoe Pits - Multi-Use Court (Basketball/Pickleball) -lights - Sand Volleyball Courts (2) -lights - Playground (2) - Restrooms - Softball Field - Walking Paths Example Activations: basketball, pickleball, horseshoe, softball, small & large gatherings (work, family, clubs), recreational sports (frisbee, flag football, soccer) recreational activities and classes, community meetings, events (internal and external), Location #3: Mission Plaza (989 Chorro Street) – 3 acres - Amphitheater (small) - Café Kiosk - Creek Walking Path - Restrooms - Seating Tables Example Activations: small & large gatherings (businesses, non-profits, cultural, family, clubs), community events (internal and external), art displays.
