I frequent this park often and there are many folks already using it for dog walking and play, without incident as far as I know. I have two dogs and walk them there. I feel an official fenced dog park will divert many from the LL arena and this will cause problems at Emerson. Since it is almost surrounded by residences the increased traffic, parking and noise would be unacceptable. The LL park is often very lightly populated, and from my standpoint, poorly managed. Right after it opened one of the very expensive and complicated gate latches failed, and remained that way for some time. Then months later another failed as well and remained in disrepair for a while. One of the sprinklers failed in the middle of the field and a huge mud pit developed and remained for some time. It could have been repaired with a load of sand in minutes, but..... So, though it would be nice to have a dog park closer to the center of town I don't think Emerson is the place. Perhaps a better option would be to take a piece of the massive Meadow Park for this purpose. There is plenty of room (even for expansion if needed in the future), some areas are farther from housing, and there is always plenty of parking nearby. 1 best, Pete Evans recent immigrant with 57 years here in Paradise -- "Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves."
