The questions are below with staff’s response shown in italics: 1) Do we know what other jurisdictions/CSDs were asked to sign onto this letter proposed by the County? Was it just the seven cities, or were there other entities approached to sign? Have all those other entities decided to sign? Below is the list of agencies contacted by the County of San Luis Obispo, along with each agency’s response to the invitation . The County has said it would depend on what those changes are, but it would be unlikely that they would make substantive changes since so many agencies have already approved the letter as-is. 3) If we opted to write our own letter, what would that process be? Is there a timeframe within which this approach would be optimal, if we decided to go this direction? If the Council chooses to submit its own letter, staff will draft it consistent with the City’s adopted Legislative Advocacy Platform, previously approved guiding principles, prior letters on the matter, and/or other direction provided by Council. Advocacy letters are typically prepared by staff and reviewed and signed by the Mayor on behalf of the City Council. If the Council wishes to include any additional or specific elements, it may provide direction to staff as part of the action on this item. The County has advised that the letter should be submitted by the end of January.
